The first signs of feeling torn may be ones you register only slowly. Hesitantly. Often, quite unwillingly.
Because noticing those signs will mean admitting there's something wrong. And admitting will mean facing… understanding… acting. Which may not be easy. And you may not be ready.
But when you are ready to move forward, these are the kind of signs that your body and mind are likely to be sending you.
- In your mind's eye, are you seeing… disapproving faces… disaster striking all your plans… a room with many doors, all opening onto a brick wall…
- As you hear your inner voices, are you hearing… confusion, contradiction, disagreement… criticism, scolding, blame…
- Are your inner sensations signalling… tension in chest, stomach or gut… butterflies in your stomach endlessly fluttering… a constant sinking feeling…
- When you scan your thoughts, do you notice… disorganised pros and cons… sudden new ideas, instantly seeming wrong… a constant change of mind
- When you focus on your feelings, do you sense… anxiety, fear, panic… sudden emotional shifts… bursts of self-irritation.. certainty, suddenly disappearing… hope suddenly lost…
- When you examine your actions, do you find… you often change direction, alter plans… you keep hesitating in case you get it wrong…
Have you experienced any of these signs inner conflict? What have they shown you about what your conflict means and how you could resolve it?
